Several nostalgic elements are present in this modern adaptation of the classic game, offering both familiarity and new challenges. The game features three distinct modes: Arcade, where players rapidly destroy gems to reach the top; Time Trial, which tests your scoring ability within set time limits of 3, 5, or 10 minutes; and Pantheon Path, an engaging journey through 150 levels that involves solving puzzles, battling guardians, and restoring a sacred temple.

Additional gameplay features include the ability to use boosts to gain extra time or points, enhancing strategic play. The integration of social features enables players to view and challenge Facebook friends, adding a competitive dimension. Graphically, the game is optimized for HD displays on both phones and tablets and includes a "Color Blind" mode accessible via the settings menu.

The soundtrack comprises composed pieces by Allen Andrews, Robson Cozendey, and BggProductions, contributing to an immersive experience. The revised high-scores system allows players to compete globally across individual game modes by logging in with Facebook credentials.

Regarding gameplay mechanics, players manipulate pieces consisting of three jewels that can be rotated with a dedicated button. The objective is to align three or more jewels of the same type in horizontal, vertical, or diagonal arrangements. Players can move and position pieces using an on-screen gamepad located in the bottom left corner, with upcoming pieces displayed for strategic planning.

The developers invite feedback to improve "Columns Challenge," encouraging comments via reviews or directly through their website.
